Joseph Duvernay is a retired telecommunication professional, nature enthusiast, and skilled poet. With over 30 years of experience at Western Electric Co., he completed projects for Bell Labs. Exploring his passion for nature and creativity, Joseph took extension courses in wild horse viewing and mule-packing. He now focuses on writing and studying while advocating for fairness and equality.
Early Life and Education
Joseph Marcel Duvernay was born in February 1952. He attended parochial school for the first nine years of compulsory education and later enrolled in public high schools. In June 1970, he graduated from high school.
Career at Western Electric Co. and Retirement
Following his graduation, Joseph joined Western Electric Co. of the Bell System and its succeeding corporations. He worked for the company for an impressive thirty years, ten months, and 28 days before retiring in July 2001.
Continuing Education and Academic Interests
During his years at Western Electric and succeeding companies, Joseph attended various community colleges in the Los Angeles area. He also took courses at California State University-Los Angeles and Long Beach, with a keen interest in mathematics and technologies.
Training and Promotions
Throughout his career, Joseph had the opportunity to receive training in electronics and management from Western Electric, AT&T Network Systems, Lucent Technologies, and Bell Labs Innovations. He started as an entry-level installer and progressed to roles such as field engineer, supervisor, and project/implementation manager. He also completed several projects for Bell Labs.
Love for the Wild
Joseph nurtured a love for the wilderness and attended extension courses at UC Davis and another university focused on wild horse viewing and mule-packing. These courses provided him with an opportunity to explore and appreciate the beauty of nature in California and Nevada.
Joseph married his high school sweetheart, though the demands of his career led to the end of their marriage. He is the proud father of five children and grandfather of eight. Early in his career, Joseph published three books of poetry titled "I Begin: Poems, Essays, Thoughts, and Observations., Offering, and Dragon Conversation: Talks With A Quarter Sentinel.
Current Activities and Hobbies
Today, Joseph spends his time writing, connecting with nature, and fostering a deep interest in different cultures. He advocates for fair treatment for all individuals and enjoys activities such as hiking, camping, reading, writing, studying, and translation.
